[Music], so, what i've used is just something to get, inside, of there then use this spudger spreader, to basically encourage the parts out, because if you don't, they will break as you can see right, here they'll break off and then if you, have to use this again um you won't be, able to use it or, you won't sit properly so after you've, done that and you've taken it out you'll, need to clean, all of that part there in order for the, adhesive to stick when the item goes, back on, also you gotta make sure you clean the, residue, off the rings because there's a a d, selfies decent three m, uh self-adhesive sticker to stick these, to the ring, outfit if you don't clean off the, residue of dirt here obviously, it's not going to adhere properly, probably will fall out, after a period of time so, make sure you clean yourself and dry it, off and then you'll be good to go, right the next thing you need to do is, get out the, this plastic part for the fog light, we're going to attach this light to the, photo so there's a difference, there you go exact and then, there's apparently some t 25, torx screws to here, and here and here which you need to take, out the actual fog lights soon as we get, the fog lights out we'll get back to you, okay after you've got um the, part out in order to take to wire up, the um the light we're going to work for, the fox, so we're going to take out this bulb, here, and these are t25s, there's three of them one's here, there's another one there and the one, there now they're very rusted so i can, only advise you to go and get, another set of these because i wouldn't, bother to put these ones back in, right after we've taken the ball back, we're gonna need to run, the wiring now i got to halfords to get, some wire, i basically got some speaker well which, is two core but, this is obviously plastic so it's going, to be weather resistant, now the quick weight quickest weight in, order to, not have to take off your um your bump, or anything like that, is actually there's a protective um, plastic behind here if you get your hand, in you can actually get, right behind it and feed the wire up, to the actual rings where they are, positioned, so i'll be doing that in the next um, shot, okay you'll probably find we've come, inside because uh it's a bit cold out, there, um basically what we've got now, is the cable that comes with the actual, sign, you'll probably find it's a bit too, short for what the purpose is, for what we need for so you're going to, need to extend it, so basically you need to solder your, your plus, together on an extension and your minus, again on your extension, ideally you'd want to solder both sides, and join them together, uh also you can get some heat shrinking, tubing which will, make sure you can um make sure that both, sides are tight together, so i'm just gonna use my, hair dryer and get that done, [Music], so, so you know i can see that both sides, are joined together, and um obviously you have a fit, and therefore we can now start to, effectively move it back to the car, okay since i've spotted um i've managed, to put this thing on, however it's not it's not perfect the, fit isn't good at all, and it doesn't sit proud on top of the, um, on top of the cart so what i've noticed, is i'll just take this off, is that the tabs here, are a lot longer than the originals if, you can see here, so what i've got to do is, [Music], grab a hacksaw blade and trim these down, a bit, because once they're trimmed down you're, more likely to get, a better shot on what we're trying to do, here, right i can't even say that even when, you do, um adjust and cut these off, sorry they're alright cut these off they, still don't fit flush, at all it will stick down with the self, adhesive, but they don't stick so, you're going to need to be really, careful, [Music], and what you do because it really it, doesn't fit, now in my view it doesn't bother me but, if you might be living in areas that you, know someone might, try and take the thing off personally i, would put, um a glove of silicone around that, in order to protect the circuit board, and the soldering from corroding, and also to make sure that it's going to, be a bit more easier, for somebody you know what won't be easy, for someone just to pull it off, and steal it for themselves all we have, left now, then is to connect up from, the lights to the back of the fox, so we've already tested it and it seems, that the positive, goes to the the actual negative sorry, goes to the brown one here so i'm just, gonna, cap it off with one of these yeah you, will know what these are, and then the negative or the plot goes, to the um, blue and white at the back, so let's connect that up and see how we, get on, okay after you've done that uh, you can see i've nicely managed to, tie those up quite nicely all you need, to then do is put back, on your spotlight, [Music], and then obviously uh, link that through and jobs are going, nice to put the item back, um as it was after you've done that, just make sure you tie off any excess, wiring on the hard foot so it's not, touched up by your any after any water, or anything like that, and then you're more or less good to go, you've done i'll just, put this back in place, and i'll finally fix the item into, position, and said i'm going to put a bit of, silicon after i've finished, because um i want to make sure clear, silicon, just want to make sure that the um seals, it's water tight and there's not going, to be no ingression, obviously if there's an aggression it, might mess about really, at a later stage so i'm gonna get on and, do that, and what next shot i'm gonna show you is, actually working, at night, [Music], [Music], okay quick review final review on uh, the four rings i gotta say, [Music], that um the fixture the fittings, here are absolutely useless they don't, fit in uh flat to, the front of your grill and therefore, any, any type of use of them it's just not, going to work, so the way i got around it, was to well if i was to fit it again, i would lock these off all the way, around, and just silicone the back of it to, the the front of your car that way there, you might, even um look after, the actual circuit board because i, noticed as well, because i was trying to angle and get, everything in, i destroyed one or two of the led bulbs, which is so infuriating, so my advice to anyone's going to fit, one of these, try it see if it works for you if you, can cut and see if you can get it in but, i very much doubt you will be able to, just cut the lips off put a nice built, um bead of silicon there, and bite your time stick it on obviously, you're gonna have to drill a half so you, can put the wire through, and um i think that will be a better fit, the self adhesive is absolute the the 3m, is absolutely useless because your it, will sticking parts and then it won't, stick up other parts, so you left it hanging off it's just, absolutely useless, so my view is a beading, stick it on hold it on let it go off, and then you'd be perfectly fine thanks, for watching my review, and um i have a few in stock i, left an email underneath if you need to, contact me you know what you need to do, thank you very much for watching my, video goodbye
Taking a Chance - Free startup ideaI wrote this up in a text file a while back, I have a bunch of other ideas, but no time and lack the experience to do many of them. So I thought I would throw one up on HN in the event someone sees some value in it.

MDWnDec 3rd, 2010
Idea-in-a-sentence: “We are going to put the human element of life between the 0's and 1's of the cold digital music wasteland.” or “Experiences, Memories, Personal Connections, and Passion are all uniquely human. Streaming the ciphered bits of 0's and 1's of a song is uniquely digital. We want to change that.”
makes songs take on character/personality of vinyl records
songs get more 'seasoned' as you play them more
how? - analyze large sample of vinyl vs. mp3/flac
analyze variation, rate of change, identify at least 20 variables between digital and vinyl and how they change over time using as much user context as possible(does temp. affect sound? Does virtual/physical record player change not only sound when played, but also change future characteristics of audio? Etc..)
overall strategy: bring soul/personality(one advantage of vinyl) to digital(convenience of play, storage, etc..)
logo/brand ideas: representation of character/soul/personality/interactiveness in a sea of binary
overall concepts: put emotion in an emotionless medium; to humanize digital; warm(human, dynamic) the cold(digital, static)
monetization questions:nhow?nwhere is the value?n- is the value in the ability to have a (DDM)dynamic digital medium taking traits from (DAM)dynamic analog medium in vinyl, or is the value in the curation/storage/market-making services of company for the converted DDM?
would people pay for service, if so, when?n- after songs take on a warm, analog feel, or before file conversion based on expectations?
what are expectations?(quantify acceptable level of Δ(DDM/DAM))
how to create enduring value after Δ(DDM/DAM) approaches 0 acceptably?(in other words, once the song is seasoned to acceptable level, and continued use yields less and less noticeable results, how do you still generate revenue?)
- market-making?
only part of value can come from audio features, other features must be just as important in order to be a platform, not a widget.
In staying with theme of value synergy between digital(cold, mp3, flac, convenient, experiences do not follow the medium, they follow the user) and analog(warm, vinyl, record sleeve signed by artist, human connection, experiences travel with physical medium), we can further add value by storing experiences of one user and being a market maker for others to consumer that value.
- for static digital medium(mp3's, flac, etc..) now: what the user does with it, how it's played, what shows they went to, who they met, pictures of events and people, and other experiences do not follow the file, they stay with the user(not creating value)
- for dynamic digital medium we want to make: what user does with it, how many times it's played, where it's traveled, who they've met, pictures from shows and events, signatures, etc.. still stay in users memory, but also follow the filet (creating a sort of provenance > value > $$$).
metrics:n?
feature ideas:
Live Show>Hotspot>Signed Album: allow artists to set up “hotspots”(50 yard radius?) at shows that will virtually add text/drawings/photos/content controlled by artist to album cover/inside sleep/etc.. of DDM of people with the app.
Streamlined integration with mobile/tablet/big screen. Users won't be able to fully realize value of album art, signatures, pictures from shows, etc... on a small screen(mobile). This makes the multi-screen integration a very important factor. Should files be cloud based and then streamed?(easier, but limited by bandwidth and connection reliability) Or should the program use a more local approach that connects directly between devices?(harder, could run into compatibility issues and may make development more costly and delayed)
Goals:nMeet with people who would enjoy using website/appnPut a rough draft of dream team together, keep in contact with them, consult with them oftennFurther hash out idea with potential team members and others input. Create mockup videos of how it would be used(think iPhone commercials) and concept in action.nCan it work? Proof of concept (toughest goal?)nHow Much will it cost?nSecure legal counsel, find best way for company structure(start as LLC, but plan for c-corp?) Make sure a dynamic digital medium doesn't infringe on any copyright issue. Identify any foreseeable legal issues.nCreate logo/brand identitynHire teamnCreate beta website/app. Usable, but minimal upfront development costsnPitch idea to record stores, ask for feedback, input from employees. Show how website/app could increase their market share and increase their profits. Somehow get small investments from large number of record stores without giving equity. Hard, but the key may be to get their point of view on how it could help them. They may be a large future userbase and advocate, offer future discounts, exclusive rights to at least 3 points of integration into program? Something like that.nIdentify robust set of static(non changing) variables to analyze between digital audio and vinyl audionIdentify robust set of dynamic(changing) variables of vinyl and how various use affects these variables.nNormalize staticΔ(digital/vinyl) – (make audio file consistently sound like brand new vinyl)nNormalize dynamicΔ(digital/vinyl) – (make audio file consistently sound like seasoned old vinyl)nFill the gap! Connect how vinyl changes over time/use to digital, and apply in between normalized staticΔ and normalized dynamicΔ.nRelease beta to vinyl enthusiasts, audiophiles, record store employees etc.. free, but with feedback tool included.
,Surf's Up Dog, a small company thinking outside the box (www.surfsupdog.com)Small companies like Surf's Up Dog (www.surfsupdog.com)are thinking outside the box when it comes to promoting their dog leashes. They are sponsoring an athlete in to 2015 Raleigh, NC 1/2 Ironman. 70.3 miles of logo exposure. Many athletes run and bike with their dogs so they are hitting a target audience in addition to the 1000's of people watching the race. What clever ways have you promoted your product or service?.
,Ask HN: Getting EyeballsSeems like Arrington's post has sparked some conversation about the community and founders' desperation for exposure. What's the problem? Are people not clever enough to come up with unique marketing plans? Or do most of them fail?
Coming from someone who hasn't been involved in a startup (yet!), I've never really understood this inability among founders to develop clever marketing campaigns. Everyone seems to think they need to score a blog post. And even if that's what it takes, there's huge frustration and difficulty with doing so.
During Startup School '08, Arrington said the best way to get on TC was to create a story. That seems pretty straightforward to me. So create one. That doesn't mean email him asking him to demo your product. It means to stir up some drama. Leak a screenshot, 'accidentally' post something on twitter, etc. I'm pretty sure that's the type of story he's talking about. In being creative with creating features, you also need to be master storytellers.
Instead of blog posts, there are myriad of things you could do for promotion and eyeballs. Make a bogus/cute little app that might not relate to your site like that 'Is Hillary Swank Hot?' app that was here a week ago. Make it a gag site and promote there. Here's an idea: Make weekly videos of a puppet version of your logo gruesomely killing the logos of your competitors or just popular sites in general. Be a sensationalist.
It really shouldn't be all that hard, guys, honestly. People these days will watch anything, and there are celebrities and fads in every corner of the internet waiting to find an audience. Making them stick to your service is another problem, but getting exposure shouldn't be difficult..
,GlobalogozationThis article has the same target audience as many of the great design related websites and books. It is created to help BOTH designers and all the 'general population' readers to get a clearer picture of 'state of the logo design' today. To narrow the subject down a bit, I came up with the term of 'globalogozation' (fusion between words logo and globalization ) with a goal of sharing some thoughts on how the modern media/communication affects the logo design..
,The Power of a Good LogoAt the heart of every great brand is a logo a symbol, icon or typeface that is easily recognizable by the viewing audience. Something that, when viewed, sparks an impulse or emotion about the company or organization it represents. That reaction is what makes a good logo truly powerful..
,Ask HN: Review my startup: clubcompy.comClubCompy is a hosted programming environment designed to introduce children to computers and programming. We've built a language reminiscent of '80s BASIC and Logo in HTML 5 and JavaScript so that the only requirement for use is a modern web browser.
We believe that a quarterly newsletter with lessons and printed listings will appeal to our target audience. The site is free to use, but only subscribers get server-side storage..
,Solicit HN: DesignerI'm posting this in HN because I like the audience from a technical point of view, as well as intellectual. I am hoping I could find someone:
We are a very young start up. We believe in our idea and so do people we speak with (not our mothers, but people who dont care about hurting our feelings :-) ). We have not reached out to any VC because we want to have something more substantial before we take that step.
2 founders in our 30s: a business school alum (with a hands on tech background) working in the valley, a programmer with industry experience. Node.js, mongodb, redis, etc. We are in need for someone who can do:
1. Logo designn2. Visual designn3. User Interactionn4. eCommercen5. Branding
In particular we are looking for someone who has previous experience designing Consumer Internet eCommerce sites. But a good eye will get you a long way...
My motivation posting here is two fold:
1) This is a community of hackers where (almost) everyone is trying to create something new many times with limited resources. So, maybe we could reach some sort of equity/payment agreement (I'm not implying you should work for free, of course, but you'd be open to equity, if you like the idea).
2) This is really a bonus: I was hoping we could find someone artistic in the HN community who has the ability to also create the front end (take psd files s/he is creating, transform them to HTML+CSS, and maybe even do some jQuery stuff). However, someone good who just wants to focus on design and forget about the technical stuff is ok as well.
Leave contact info if interested (or if you know of someone else who might be), or email:

,Facebook page unpublished with no warningOn or about December 26th, a Facebook page that I run for our band called Wonder Bread 5, was unpublished without any warning. The only notification I received, was in the drop-down menu for notifications in Facebook.
We have been a band for over 25 years now, and have used our Facebook page to promote our band, spending thousands on paid adds regularly to direct fans to our concerts, and to engage with our audience since 2009 or longer. Our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/WeAreWB5/ although I can still login and see the page, no one on the other side of Facebook can see it. Thus being unpublished. After about a week there was a notice on the front page that read, "Wonder Bread 5 goes against Facebook's community standards". Under this was a question asking if I agreed or disagreed with this decision. I disagreed with this decision as I don't understand why the Facebook page was unpublished or what we have done to go against Facebook's community standards.
After a few weeks of logging in, a new message popped up. I still get "Wonder Bread 5 goes against our community standards". When I try to post, it says "Your account is restricted right now. You have been temporarily blocked from performing this action." So I wonder if this is a short temporary thing, or a long temporary thing that will be drawn out over months? My thought maybe, was to go in and try to delete most everything in hopes whatever I delete is what is being flagged. Does anyone have any insight into that, or thoughts as to what may be being flagged?
To my knowledge, we have been in compliance with the rules and regulations of Facebook. The page has never been banned or put in "Facebook jail". When I go into the violations section of our page, Facebook says "you have no violations, thank you for keeping Facebook a safe place". If it is a copyright problem, we have been in touch with The Wonder Bread company lawyers and have been given permission to use the name "Wonder Bread 5" as long as we don't use the logo
Our business is really hurting because of this. We can't pay for ads to promote our concerts. We have 13k followers, losing them would be horrible
Any help would be very appreciated..
,The SOPA secret: why aren't major Internet companies doing more?Top personnel at companies like Google and Facebook have made statements against SOPA. Wikipedia is considering a site blackout in protest.
Why aren't they getting the word out to the public? Change the Google logo and put it at the top of search results. Sticky it on Facebook walls. Change Wikipedia's donation ad to inform people about SOPA.
These sites have huge audiences which cut across demographics. Why aren't they using them?.
,Ask HN: What's the best Language/IDE to teach a group of kids programming? What's the best language/IDE to use for teaching kids programming in an after-school group setting?
I'm looking for a programming language/development environment that has the following characteristics:
- Runs on Windows
- Includes an IDE
- Free
- Easy to install
- Really easy to do graphics programming without using advanced language features.
- Well documented
To elaborate on the purpose:
I am starting an after-school program to teach kids how to program. The end product of the course will be a simple but fun computer game that the kids can take home and run on their home computers if they wish. The schools computers run Windows, and I will be using their computers.
The course will be targeted towards students in the gifted program at a public school. The students will be 10-13 years old.
I will not consider visual-only programming languages such as Scratch or Alice for this group. If, at a later time, I do a class for younger children I will consider these programs.
This is a non-graded, purely optional after-school class. It is important that the course be fun as well as educational. That is why the focus will be on making a video game.
I want kids to learn how to search reference documentation for an answer to their questions, so a well documented language/api is a must.
I have ruled out the following:
- Scratch/Alice (too visual, perhaps useful for a younger audience)
- LOGO (Not general-purpose enough, again, perhaps useful for a younger audience)
- Lego Mindstorms (too expensive)
- C/C++/Java/C# (too advanced – I would consider these for a 2nd language)
- QBasic (I just wanted to mention this because I taught myself QBasic as a kid. It's obsolete now though)
The following are viable options that I have considered:
- Microsoft Small Basic (I'm leaning towards this)
- Python+pygame (I'm thinking this may be too complicated to start with though, also a
setup headache for kids... what do you think?)
- Hackety Hack (anyone have experience teaching with this?)
- Squeak (seems more complicated than I would like)
- Visual Basic (6.0 is obsolete, but VB.NET is possibly viable, but is the complexity worth it compared to MS Small Basic?)
- Just Basic (not as “polished” as small basic)
I am a Software Engineer, and will be working with an experienced teacher to make this after-school program work. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!.
,Launch HN: Slingshow (YC W20) – Easily build custom virtual events and webinarsHello world, my name is Nilay. My cofounder Jorge and I founded Slingshow (https://slingshow.com/) and we're super excited (and nervous!) to finally launch on HN. Slingshow helps you build custom virtual events for your community. Think Zoom, but with a modern and flexible user experience that seamlessly flows between different ways of interacting with larger and smaller groups.
Last year, we were in YC W20 pivoting through several ideas, but then the pandemic hit. Suddenly, our YC batch was just a series of monotonous Zoom calls. We lost the magic of the social dinners, random conversations, and catching a speaker afterward for a personal chat. We quickly recognized that while Zoom was great for small meetings, the functionality and UI/UX made large group events unorganized and passive.
During the pandemic, many novel and sometimes gimmicky video platforms emerged targeting the social niche. But every organization hosts more than social events. We built Slingshow to have no learning curve for traditional use cases like panels and presentations while seamlessly incorporating newer social formats. We think the best virtual event formats are still in their infancy and are unique to every use case, so we wanted to create a flexible tool that would let organizers build their own experiences.
We were inspired by companies like Notion, Coda, Retool, and Airtable, which work in the UI/UX paradigm of creating functional modular building blocks. This means choosing a few simple, valuable abstractions like a table or a button and letting users mix and match these components to meet their needs. In our case, we’re starting with four fundamental blocks that organizers use to plan a schedule: Tables for free-flowing networking like interactions, Rooms for concurrent presentations, a Stage for classic webinar like presentations, and a Call to Action block for redirecting to external websites like forms, activities, etc.
Using our blocks, one of our enterprise customers (Fivetran) holds their standard webinar on our Stage block and then shifts into the Rooms block where attendees can choose to speak with the panelists. Another customer held a dating event that started with a Stage to introduce the event, then switched to Tables of 4, then 3, then 2 with different prompts to create more intimate conversations. We also have other customers hosting unique product launches, happy hours, live podcasts, cohort-based classes, and multi-day hackathons. While some platforms offer similar functionality, they’re heavy conference platforms with a large learning curve. They also require days of work to create specialized assets and often involve trained intermediaries like event organizers and planners.
We’re not focused on conferences but rather on simplicity, and Blocks help us achieve that. They're versatile and help simplify the organizer's event creation process by hiding complexity. Blocks are also a simple way for us to add new formats in the future. By just by creating a schedule with Blocks, Slingshow automatically generates the event page with registration, a cover image, and the entire attendee experience. Add a logo and brand color, and we'll automatically theme the entire event to make it feel like your brand.
We've chosen to launch late as nothing else matters if the video isn't stable and reliable for first-time users. One speaker failing to connect could ruin an event leaving a bad impression on everyone involved. We’ve spent several months working with early customers to gracefully handle errors and give helpful error messages for all the complexity of video: weak network connections, old browsers, mobile devices, firewalls, SDK edge cases, permission issues, etc. Depending on the use case, we also switch between multiple WebRTC video infrastructure providers. And lastly, following the lead of companies like Discord and Tandem, we built our backend using the Phoenix framework in Elixir because of its excellent support for WebSockets.
We still have a long way to go, but we feel confident with what we have and are ready to open up to a broader audience. We'd love to hear your feedback and experiences with the many virtual events you've probably experienced over this pandemic. Thanks! :–)

,Ask HN: Help Is it worth rebranding (trademark infringement)?I'm one of the Cofounders of a startup called Super Owl and we are busy working on an iPhone app which delivers spoken word content weekly to subscribers. We have recently been featured as part of a Next Web article about 'How Startups Choose their names' - http://thenextweb.com/insider/2011/12/03/9-startups-explain-how-they-chose-their-names/
This was a nice bit of early press for us and we were surprised but delighted to be approached. However, very soon after this article went out we received a letter from a company stating that we have 'breached their trademarks'. This company is another startup, yet to launch their app publicly, however they claim that they are an established business - see their first letter to us here - https://skitch.com/aishay/guy25/letter1
I e-mailed the following reply:
--------------------------
'Hi ,
I haven't heard of * before - just looked at your website and it looks like a great service.
I'm slightly confused about the letter attached as you state that Super Owl breaches your trademarks - have you registered a trademark for the name 'owl', '' or 'super owl'? Obviously, if it's the latter I can appreciate your concern.
First of all to clarify Super Owl is not a streaming service for audiobooks so it's quite different from what you're doing (we are aggregating spoken word audio podcasts for download). As yet, we also are not related to anything in the book space and our future plans don't include audiobooks.
Owls and audio are what we appear to have in common and I hope we can agree to differentiate ourselves in the market through product, logo, marketing, service etc. A quick search in the iTunes store reveals several apps with the word 'owl' included and I haven't seen this as a major setback or concern.
I hope this puts your mind at ease, however do feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss anything further. You can get in touch by e-mail or give me a call directly on *.
Best of luck on your launch.
Regards,
Aisha Yusaf'
--------------------------
I have now received the following letter as a reply to my e-mail - https://skitch.com/aishay/guy2a/letter2
So, here's my dilemma, do we change our name?... I don't feel like we are infringing any trademarks even though we do share the word 'owl' in both our business names. As we haven't even got a product out as yet we don't want to waste our time or money on legal fees or petty issues but rather concentrate on building, selling and promoting what we make.
The business that has been pursuing us on the trademark issue also doesn't have a product out (even though they speak as though they have) and although we can rebrand what we're doing, as it's not going to make or break our app, I am concerned that by doing so we are being bullied or coerced into doing something which is not even necessary.
At this stage no one really cares about our product and if we're lucky some people might care once its available to use and buy, so we don't have time or energy to spend on the wrong things (such as this).
Any advice, help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks :).
,Ask HN: Built a prototype for getting leads from social networksHello HN Community,
We recently built a prototype which helps get leads for businesses from social networks. By social network, we mean any places on the social sphere where people are genuinely raising enquires. Example: nowadays, a lot of Facebook groups for entrepreneurs and freelancers have grown so much. On these groups a lot of people post their queries and look for references. Example, someone might post that they need an Android Application done, a logo, content writer or even require an event agency. Being a service provider myself, I have received genuine leads from these groups. We are looking at smartly data mining these enquiries and showing these leads to the relevant business owners.
Our target audience would be SMEs and freelancers. They will be able to add the keywords associated with their business and leads associated with them will automatically appear on their Leadify dashboard. Then the business can contact them via our dashboard and try to close the deal.
We really want some support from the community in getting feedback. nHow can we improve it further? nWhat relevant data would a business owner want regarding the lead? nHow can we improve the lead generating experience of any business owner? nWhat problems does one face in normally getting leads? nHow much would a business owner be willing to pay if the product gives genuine value and helps convert 1-2 leads per month?
Here is the prototype version of the product - http://leadify.in
Looking forward to your valuable comments :)
Thank you.
Sumeet Chawla.
,Ask HN: Anyone want to build this mockup tool?Well, after reading about the Macaw project on Kickstarter, I had an alternative idea that I think would make a useful application for a HN developer. I simply don't have the time to make it happen, but I think there's an audience, so I'll pass the suggestion along.
Imagine JSFiddle, but instead of experimenting with code, you're mocking up changes to an existing design. You visit the site, enter a website URL, and the website appears fullscreen in the browser, with a toolbar in a left column. You click an element on the site, and the toolbar displays the related properties you can modify. For example, you enter the URL to HN. You click the navigation links. The left column displays a slider or dropdown to change their text size. You can also use a color picker, select common fonts from a dropdown or enter your own, and toggle bold or italic on this element. You click the HN logo. You think it'll look better on the right side, so you can drag and drop that element over there. The site feels a little wide to you, so you click the overall table element, and just scale it a little smaller. Then you click the link titles and bump the line height for more spacing. Select the header, and maybe color pick it to blue instead of the existing orange. You think it looks good, so you click save, and get a link to share the changes. Now you can send this across to anyone else, and they can see your mockup of a revised HN layout.
I don't even want to see code at any point in the process, I simply want to drag around elements, scale divs and text, and modify properties using an interactive toolbar. One of my users, who has no programming experience, should be able to punch in the URL to my site, and within a few minutes share with me the changes they'd prefer to see. My client, boss, etc, should be able to do the same. Instead of explaining the changes, using PowerPoint for unknown reasons to add design notes, or putting together a poorly cut and pasted Photoshop image, they should be able to modify the layout I send across, and send their ideas back. That's all they are, design ideas and mockups. The code is irrelevant, if the mockup is approved, it goes to the development team to properly setup. It's a simple tool for visualizing potential changes to your online website or application, and a great way to collaborate between people, either online, or in person. Imagine sitting down with your client, showing them your work thus far, and being able to drag around columns, and scale images in real-time. Saves time, get's more ideas flowing, and therefore you get a better product.
Another nice addition might be building a list of swatches based on the CSS of the inputted URL. Just scan the CSS for the most common color codes, and toss them in the toolbar for easy selecting. Comments would be nice to see as well. Click an area of the site, and add notes regarding the changes for others to review. A tree format could be another feature. When I modify HN, I send it over to the client, and they build on my design. Then maybe they decide to branch off the original with their own concept. We can then browse different branches of the tree to see how they developed over time, and decide on the final approach we're going to run with for the project..

What is it?
A service to customize games with brand references (i.e. logo, products) placed inside. Usually super simple, easy to play casual games.

,Ask HN: Where does one find a remarkable designer co-founder?My partner and I have worked together for while now, both in grad school and on our startup projects. We have a reasonable amount of industry experience and get along very well. We're both rather technical, each focusing on different parts of the stack, both decent at hustling and customer development (although we've only done the latter for a limited amount of time, so we're still learning a lot as we go)
We are somewhat lacking from the design standpoint: our web / graphic / interaction design is at best 'meh'. The best solution out there will unfortunately often fall flat if presented inadequately. At this stage we believe in keeping the team to at most 3 people, and that we would be at the strongest with an additional designer-founder.
We would love to find a 3rd founder (SF area, although remote could work) who would take full ownership of the aesthetics of any project we undertake. He/she would own everything, from the logo of the product, to the optimal screenflow, to the pitch deck, to the MVP video. Nobody already knows everything, we certainly learn a lot as we go, but it'd still have to be someone extremely competent and flexible.
Where do we go about finding this unicorn? I feel like the problem is that as techies we're stuck in the universe of developers, with very little intermingling with the art people. It's similar to when business people complain about never finding available developers to work with (I, for example, know tons, but that's because most of my network is made of developers).
Are there online hangouts for that kind of folks? Meetups? Anywhere else where we could locate someone like that?
Thanks a lot!.
,How do you think of Google SnoopaVision (previous 360 cam video)?Google lies, as always. Do not get fooled.
Google had provided 360 videos since last summer 2015. But seemingly that was not as expected. Yesterday, I watched a single YouTube video and I found there was an icon on the down right side of the video player, which is called Snoopa. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXjLhFUruzA
And I clicked it, it said "SnoopaVision is in beta, you can watch this video in SnoopaVision mode after 10/25/2016. " If you scope the logo of "SnoopaVision", you would see it's a head of black man. And in the introduction of video of "SnoopaVision" --- https://www.youtube.com/snoopavision?v=mXjLhFUruzA , you can see all the time this black man (a popular singer, or less? ) is "busy" working in Google as an Architect.
(lie 1): But if you watch this video at 00:45, you would find the SnoopaDogg was trying to code like a stupid psycho on a computer in Google. I know people don't code like that in Google, please don't fool us! Show respects to coders, please.
(lie 2): At 00:50, the Snoopa wrote 'dgg' on a board. And seemingly other calculus formulas were all under the shadow of this Architect. Or Snoopa wrote these formulas in Google. Show respects to scholars, please. Or people in Google don't care.
Response: Google was trying to let popular people get involved and brand their 360cam video products. But in the video Snoopa himself looks like a drug-addict, who would say some argot, dirty words even guns pointing at his head. The image was very violent, nasty, low self-esteem, full of weed. By the way, the icon "Snoopa" may make you feel itching. Can't Google have a more flatten icon/symbol for this. Please don't put this heroism for branding your products in 360cam video industry. Or try someone with greater public image. We don't want to be treated as fools as you think we are.
How do you think, guys?.

Got that retro Audi font badge.. I replaced the four rings logo with it on my a4.. debating to do it to my a6 lol .. such a nice badge :) what do you think? 10
I am a HUGE Audi fan and brand loyal for decades so when I say this is attractive but not gorgeous enough in person for me to drop $150k. I’d say it’s in the A5 range. The grill in front and the logos just look so much like plastic. Cool design but it doesn’t look expensive in my opinion. 11
Does anyone else prefer the horizontal line grills over the new honeycomb ones or prefer the black logos over the original one? I think Audi is superior over BMW & Mercedes because of the dynamic turn signals and puddle lights. Out of all luxury car brands Audi by far has the coolest logo. 12
I did a thing too (will add the Audi logo have ordered the mounting brace) 13
