I think the overall rebranding goal for, us was to elevate the Microsoft brand in, la lives just a great opportunity to do, that, microsoft worked with aeg with gensler, with jll and with sign tech to create, the signage here on campus, downtown LA has got some very strict, signage codes and requirements and it, took a lot of meetings and a lot of work, to get the signs approved that Microsoft, wanted to display, you, saitek was basically engaged to help, design and implement the new microsoft, logo at the entire venue it included the, hundreds of science throughout the venue, from 50 foot by 50 foot rooftop signs to, eyebrows signs where we worked with, engineers for the arena AG and as I, mentioned Gensler as well as jones lang, lasalle to basically minimize any, structure for the signage elements so, all signs were designed to basically, appear as if they were floating based on, these three venues which are all, locating the same complex of LA Live we, needed to look at how people experience, the place from a branding perspective, and also from wayfinding perspectives, the rooftop signage of the Microsoft, theatre is the largest Microsoft symbol, that exists today the basement our, relationship with Microsoft they engaged, us to look at the microsoft theater the, figueroa and the microsoft square and, how we can address the branding in this, context, Oh

,Ask HN: Bootstrapped startup 'forced' to spend $10k. How?Im in an odd situation.
We are a bootstrapped startup. We got a $10k grant to use in startup services, but we cant use it in paying ourselves. And if we don't spend it completely there's a fine we have to pay.
We have to spend the money before the end of July.
Why we asked for the grant in the first place? We thought we need the money to hire developers, but in the end we did the MVP ourselves (I learned to program in rails in the process :)
Being a pre-launch bootstrapped startup, we are not used to spend money like this, so I have been looking in for services that we can pay for 12 months in advance, but they are scarce.
Also I'm looking for some consulting work like web designers for a new logo, get domain names in multiple languages, etc.
Fellow HNers, How can I spend the money? (I have around $8k left).
,Failure to launch US phone Covid-tracking apps?What's going on with phone based covid-tracking apps? Apple & Google
have widely released bluetooth based tracking capabilities that need an app to leverage them, and in the US these seem to be state based. The US has a disgraceful national failure to have a countrywide plan for most cv19 issues. The Google & Apple strategy we have seems to be that each state makes their own app leveraging the infrastructure. My state (Washington) doesn't have an app as of now.
Only a few states have released them. Washington State people have been working on an app for a while; commoncircle.us seems to be their website, they have a github site that hasn't had a checkin for a couple of months. Is this effort dead? Their twitter account has nothing since July. Why isn't there an app available or any discussion?

,Any advice on choosing what should be the dominant colour(s) for your start up?Hi, I am working as a freelance PA for a start-up company that was set up on July 1st and they received a customer after 6 days and they need to have a logo and a professional invoice so that they can get paid properly. The start up is not fully sure on what they are looking for in a logo as they wasn't planning on getting a logo designed for another 1-2 months. In short, does anyone have any good advice or experience in choosing what should be the dominant color(s) for their start up? (The start-up has spent a few hours thinking about it and has come up with 2 alternatives: Red, Black & White or Brown & Yellow. But the company is worried that they don't have any robust reasoning or logic to back up these suggestions). I am hoping somebody else on this forum may have been through a similar experience and can offer some advice..

,Ask HN:Getting a client to pay for their site?Three months ago I began a project for two guys(them US me China), who wanted a webapp.
I have no portfolio so they wouldn't make any down payment, fine I thought, and told them they can pay when it's done(stupid, slightly desperate me).
Everythings done except the style, it does everything they want and more(they seem genuinely happy with this).
Now they're taking ages to decide, I sent them logo's and templates to choose from (in their prefered choice of colour) a week ago and have heard nothing since.
This was to be done by the start of July, and the only reason it's not is because they're stalling.
I think because they haven't had to pay for it yet then they feel they have no reason to hurry.
It's only $3000, how can I get them to pay, or what are my options to monetise the site(ebay?) if they don't want to pay?.
